Zusammenfassung

Wenn zwei Staaten ein bilaterales Handelsabkommen schließen, birgt dies auch Risiken und Möglichkeiten für die Beziehungen zu jeweiligen Dritten. Zudem hängt die Bereitschaft zweier Länder, in einen kriegerischen Konflikt miteinander einzutreten, auch von den Verbündeten und Kontrahenten dieser beiden Staaten ab. Solcherlei Annahmen über das Funktionieren des internationalen politischen Systems sind Gegenstand des politikwissenschaftlichen Forschungsfeldes der Internationalen Beziehungen (kurz: IB).
