Abstract
Due to the emotionally laden relationship between Germany and Israel, the work of the political foundations can also be reflected from a very personal point of view. Shlomo Shpiro emphasize in his article the importance of the foundations’ capacity of bringing together different people on a personal level, e.g. politicians and economic decision-makers from both states, but by granting scholarships to young Israeli academics to study and research in Germany. He reflects those developments from his personal experience and also describes further programmes from the KAS and the FES he took part in. Against this backdrop, he into the future where the German political foundations must continue to develop further common understanding between Germany and Israel and beyond.
