Zusammenfassung
Wenn der US-amerikanische Politikwissenschaftler Benjamin R. Barber ein neues Buch veröffentlicht, dann lässt das weltweite Medieninteresse nicht lange auf sich warten: Fernsehinterviews in New York, Zeitungsartikel in Seoul und Radioberichte in London. Er hat keine Berührungsängste mit einer breiten Öffentlichkeit – im Gegenteil, die Diskussion und Wirkung seiner Thesen jenseits eines akademischen Fachpublikums erscheinen ihm ganz besonders erstrebenswert (vgl. Deneen, 2002: 17). Denn Barber hat nicht weniger als eine normative Vision.
