Zusammenfassung

Probleme des Wasserhaushaltes der Pflanzen sind wegen der Fülle der noch offenstehenden Fragen und wegen der praktischen Bedeutung beliebte Themen für internationale Symposien. In der Berichtszeit erschienen die 27 Referate, die auf dem Treffen der British Ecological Society 1961 (“The water relations of plants”) gehalten worden waren (vgl. Fortschr. Bot. 24, 151), im Druck (Rutter u. Whitehead). Ein Symposium über “Water stress in plants” fand in Prag statt; es liegen bisher nur die Kurzfassungen der angemeldeten Referate vor. — Mit dem Phloem-Transport in den Pflanzen befaßte sich ein Symposium, das 1961 in Nottingham abgehalten wurde. Die Vorträge sind jetzt gedruckt (Preston); auf einige der darin enthaltenen Mitteilungen werden wir noch zurückkommen. Eine Reihe von Übersichten über die Struktur der Leitbahnen und den Assimilattransport findet sich in dem Berichtsband über das Symposium “Formation of Wood in Forest Trees”, das 1963 im Harvard Forest stattfand (Zimmermann). Einen Überblick über ihre autoradiographischen Studien zum Transport, vor allem von Herbiciden, geben Crafts und Yamaguchi. Eine kürzere Betrachtung über den derzeitigen Stand unserer Kenntnisse vom Feinbau und den Leistungen der Siebröhren stellen Crafts u. Currier an. Eine gedrängte Übersicht über die physikalisch-chemischen Gesetzmäßigkeiten des passiven Strofftransportes durch Membranen verdanken wir Schlögel. Schließlich ist noch auf das Buch von BRAUN „Die Organisation des Stammes von Bäumen und Sträuchern“ hinzuweisen.
