Zusammenfassung
Bei der Infektion einer Pflanze durch einen Parasiten (z. B. ein Virus, ein Bacterium, einen Pilz oder eine höhere Pflanze) beginnt ein Wechselspiel zwischen Wirt und Parasit, das die beiden zu einer funktionellen Einheit verbindet. Jeder Partner wirkt auf den andern ein, und jeder verändert sich unter der Wirkung des andern. Je nach dem Gewicht der auf beiden Seiten wirksamen Kräfte erkrankt die Wirtspflanze mehr oder weniger heftig.
