Summary

After birth the human spleen retains the potency to produce erythrocytes. This phenomenon is revealed under pathologic conditions:

  1. 1.

    in severe anemias;

  2. 2.

    independently of specific and non-specific stimulation in cases of osteomyelosclerosis;

  3. 3.

    in neoplastic conditions (Di-Guglielmo’s syndrome).
