Abstract

Several causes of diffuse alopecia are known. Infectious diseases such as scarlatina, typhus, syphilis etc. may provoke this condition. Severe liver disease and some other organ damage may be followed by abrupt diffuse alopecia. The literature shows instances of chronic hair loss associated to psychiatric disease, but no instances of acute alopecia has been described by psychological stress. Our case seems to belong to this category.
