Abstract
The so-called “myeloproliferative disorders” include a complex group of poorly understood diseases such as aplastic anemia, polycythemia vera, refractory anemia, sideroblastic anemia, paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria, and others. They are characterized by proliferative abnormalities in one or more families of hemopoietic cells usually associated with the production of abnormal levels of end cells, often with abnormalities in maturation.
