Abstract
Photo-stimulated dcsorplion of Ne melastables(Ne*) from a thin Ne film adsorbed on solid Ar, Kr, and Xe was studied using synchrotron radiation as an excitation source. The excitation which is corresponding to the first order surface cxciton initiates the desorption of Ne* from the Ne submonolayer. The mean kinetic energies of Ne* desorbed from Ne/Ar, Ne/Kr, and Ne/Xe arc 0.15, 0.13, and 0.10 eV, respectively, while that of Ne* desorbed from pure solid Ne is 0.18 eV.
