Standards in Pancreatic Surgery

Abstract

The treatment of pancreatic pseudocysts today comprises the possibilities of internal and external drainage, and pancreas resection, as well as interventional procedures [8]. The drainage of pancreatic pseudocysts by anastomosis to the stomach is among the oldest internal drainage techniques. It was first described in 1921 by Jedlicka and later (1931) modified by Jurasz. Until the early 1960s, cystogastrostomy was the standard surgical procedure for internal drainage of pancreatic pseudocysts.
