Zusammenfassung

Auf den positiven Effekt des Videofeedbacks in der Behandlung von Kindern und Jugendlichen mit Verhaltensauffälligkeiten weist bereits Bahnson (1969) hin. Ausgehend von einem theoretischen Konzept, das die verschiedenen Entwicklungsstufen der Selbstwahrnehmung berücksichtigt, differenziert er die möglichen altersabhängigen Reaktionen auf die Videokonfrontation. Junge Kinder sind häufig entzückt, ihr eigenes Bild im Fernsehen betrachten zu können, dabei ganz von ihrer äußeren Erscheinung fasziniert. Ältere Kinder achten vermehrt darauf, wie sie auf andere wirken, wobei sie der körperlichen Attraktivität eine größere Bedeutung zumessen als inhaltlichen Aspekten und Interaktionsphänomenen. Bei Adoleszenten kommt dem interpersonalen Vergleich und Austausch ein entscheidender Stellenwert zu, wobei bewußte Selbst-Konzeptanteile verstärkt werden, auch im Sinne eines Abwehrverhaltens gegenüber unbewußten Konflikten. Bahnson (1969) faßt seine sowohl aus theoretischen Überlegungen als auch aus kasuistischen Erfahrungen abgeleiteten Schlußfolgerungen dahingehend zusammen, daß der Effekt einer Videokonfrontation weitgehend vom Entwicklungsstand des Patienten sowie seiner Ich-Stärke abhängt.
