Abstract
Transsexuality is less a disorder of sexuality than a profound disorder of sex identity, i.e., of core identity and sex roles. Transsexuality is the most extreme form of a sex identity disorder, and can, as far as we know today, be traced back neither to genetic, anatomical, or hormonal deviations nor to a false sex ascription.
