Abstract
The first optical clock (OC) /1, 2/ comprised a reference frequency stable He-Ne/CH4 laser at 3.39 μm stabilized to the optical resonance on the F (2)2 methane line with width of about 30 kHz (magnetic hyperfine structure (MHS) was not resolved) and a rather complicated system of division of the optical frequency to the frequencies of the radio-frequency range. The latter consisted of the chain of oscillators successively synchronized to the stable oscillations of the reference laser.
