Zusammenfassung

In der vorliegenden Arbeit werden vor allem die Werkzeuge diskutiert, die seit dem Erscheinen von Supercomputern und Mini-Supercomputern für Simulationsanwendungen zur Verfügung stehen.

Nach einer kurzen Rückblende auf die Simulationstechnik in der „Vor-Supercomputer-Epoche“ wird die Entwicklung dieser neuen Systeme in Abschnitt 2 näher vorgestellt. Hierauf schließt sich in Abschnitt 3 eine Diskussion des Aufbaus und der Funktion dieser Maschinen an. Im 4. Abschnitt werden einige Fragen der Verwendung und insbesondere der Programmierung der neuen Hochleistungsrechner aufgeworfen. In Abschnitt 5 werden einige neue Algorithmen erwähnt, während der 6. Abschnitt eine Auflistung typischer Simulationsanwendungen enthält, für die diese Maschinen besonders geignet sind.
