Zusammenfassung

Psychischen Störungen bei geistig Behinderten wird kaum Aufmerksamkeit geschenkt, zumindest wenn man die Anzahl der Publikationen in hiesigen psychiatrischen Fachzeitschriften als Maßstab nimmt. Dieses offensichtliche Desinteresse an den Problemen geistig behinderter Menschen gilt im übrigen nicht nur für die Psychiatrie [13], sondern auch für andere medizinische Gebiete [24]. Der folgende Beitrag gibt eine Übersicht über wesentliche Aspekte psychischer Störungen bei geistig Behinderten, wobei Fragen der Therapie nicht berücksichtigt werden sollen.
