Abstract
A further type of simple cuboidal epithelium is the pigment epithelium of the retina. It can be easily lifted from the connective tissue membranes of the eyeball, mounted onto a microscope slide, and observed unstained from above (Fig. A). In this way, the polygonal forms of the cells (Fig.Al) and the large numbers of spindle-shaped melanin granules can be seen.
