Abstract

Formerly, when we did not use the prepuce to make labia minora, there were many instances where satisfactory glans coverage was not achieved. In these patients, as well as in cases where the labia minora plasty does not conceal the glans adequately, we recommend the following secondary correction (Fig. 11), which is based on a suggestion of Ansel and Rajfer (1981): A skin incision is made around the glans 10 mm from its base, the skin edges are dissected free on all sides, and the medial edges closest to the glans are joined together with inverting sutures so as to conceal the glans. Then the outer skin edges are approximated with vertical mattress sutures (5–0 or 6–0 Vicryl). With this technique the glans is concealed but can still be demonstrated. The patient need not be hospitalized.
