Geomorphology, Mineralogy and Groundwater Geochemistry as Factors of the Hydrodynamic System of the Gavish Sabkha

Part of the book series: Ecological Studies ((ECOLSTUD,volume 53))

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to contribute to the understanding of hydrodynamic and diagenetic processes in sabkhas by close observations of variations in mineralogy and brine geochemistry in the uniquely restricted marine system of the sabkha south of Nabq, called the Gavish Sabkha. Also, we give a more specific geological and geochemical description of this particular sabkha than has been described previously (Gavish 1980, Gavish et al. 1978, Krumbein et al. 1979 a).
