Abstract

Disaggregating health expenditure so that it relates to specific diseases or diagnoses is expected to produce benefits both for science and practice. This paper deals with the attempt to obtain such information on ambulatory medical care. The basis of information are routine data of the West German Statutory Health Insurance, by which over 90% of the population are covered.
