Abstract
Chemical oscillators are particularly dramatic examples of the processes possible in systems far from equilibrium. Although two different oscillating systems were reported by MORGAN [1] and by BRAY [2] about sixty years ago, most chemists were unaware such reactions existed. Even those who knew of these articles were skeptical of the alleged facts, and it was often asserted that such processes were forbidden by thermodynamics.
