Abstract

Foix and Nicolesco [62] consider a plane passing along Meynert’S bundle, or the fasciculus retroflexus, as the boundary between upper and lower brainstem. On this assumption, our studies cover, in addition to the upper brainstem, a small cephalic part of the lower brainstem, including the retrofascicular part of the nucleus ruber, the mesencephalic segment of the substantia nigra and the nuclei of the oculomotor and trochlear nerves.
