Bone Conduction

  • Chapter
Auditory System

Part of the book series: Handbook of Sensory Physiology ((1534,volume 5 / 3))

Abstract

Bone conduction testing, that is, the application of audio-frequency vibrations to the head, their conduction to the structures of the ear, and eventual perception as “sound”, is an important audiometric tool of considerable clinical significance. It helps to differentiate conductive from sensorineural lesions.
