Teleosts as a Tool in Mutation Research

  • Conference paper
Genetics and Mutagenesis of Fish

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to review what has been done concerning mutation research on teleostean fish. Although earlier mutagenesis studies have been restricted to the effects of radiation, teleosts would probably be very helpful in elucidating the mutational response of vertebrate germ cells to chemical mutagens1. This paper is confined to radiation-induced mutations in fish. Accordingly, all the results dealing with somatic radiation damage to the gonads at the cellular and sub-cellular level are excluded. Table 1 summarizes the following survey.
