Methoxyflurane and Teflurane

  • Chapter
Modern Inhalation Anesthetics

Abstract

The story of the synthesis of methoxyflurane and teflurane is different from the usual sequence of events in the synthesis and evaluation of a drug. The usual situation is that a series of chemical compounds is synthesized by a chemist, examined by a pharmacologist for possible useful activity, further examined by a clinical pharmacologist for desirable activity in human beings and then ultimately distributed to the specialist clinicians who will use the drug in their practice.
