Summary

The North Anatolia and the Black Sea coasts are of the regions receiving the most rainfall in the Asia Minor. In the region, differences in the amount of rainfall also exist. The reason for that is the characteristics of the orographic precipitation that are due to the topographic structure of the region. Orographic precipitation that occur in the region are mainly formed by the air flows coming from North and the North-West. Locally, annual rainfall distribution shows differences in the region.

Precipitation between 1930–1960 and 1961–1990 are investigated in Rize meteorology station which receives the most rainfall. Although there appears to be a decrease in the amount of precipitation in the second period, there is no considerable change in the form of monthly average distribution.
