Zusammenfassung

Im höheren Lebensalter stellen Demenzen und Depressionen die beiden häufigsten psychiatrischen Krankheitsbilder dar und treten nicht nur aufgrund dieser hohen Prävalenzrate häufig gemeinsam auf. Es sind daher grundsätzlich vier Auftretensformen möglich:

  • - eine primäre Demenz

  • - eine primäre Depression

  • - ein depressives Syndrom bei zugrundeliegender Demenz

  • - ein dementielles Syndrom bei zugrundeliegender Depression.
