Abstract

The stomach is located in close proximity to the abdominal side of the diaphragm. As part of the gastrointestinal tract, on the oral side it is connected to the esophagus at the gastroesophageal junction. This tract is continued into the duodenum at the pyloric ring. Some differences in the terminology of the gross anatomic features of the rat stomach are found in the literature. The terms proposed by Robert (1971) will be included in the following text in parentheses.
