Zusammenfassung

Seit vor nunmehr einem halben Jahrhundert erstmals eine wirksame Behandlung für Patienten mit schizophrenen Störungen entwickelt worden war, die einen revolutionären Fortschritt in der Therapie psychiatrischer Erkrankungen einleitete, ist diese neue Ära geprägt von der Bemühung, Behandlungserfolge zu optimieren. Eine Fülle von neuen Substanzen, in der klassischen psychopharmakologischen Terminologie als Neuroleptika bezeichnet — neuerdings wird immer mehr dem indikationsbezogenen Begriff Antipsychotika der Vorzug gegeben — wurde zu diesem Behufe synthetisiert und klinisch geprüft. Chemisch unterschiedlichst strukturierte Moleküle, die von den trizyklischen Phenothiazinen über Thioxanthene, Butyrophenone, Dibenzazepine, substituierte Benzamide bis hin zu einem Benzisoxazolderivat reichen, kommen heute bei dieser Indikation zum Einsatz.
