Abstract

The genus Perezia (Asteraceae family) seems to be confined to the New World, and is divided both taxonomically and geographically into two sections: Acourtia and Euperezia. The North American section Acourtia extends from the coastal region of southern California to El Salvador and eastward to central Texas. Most of this section is restricted to the middle and higher slopes of the Mexican Sierra Madre and to the high plateau region of the mountains in central and northern Mexico.
