Sleep Disturbances as Side Effects of Therapeutic Drugs

  • Chapter
The Pharmacology of Sleep

Part of the book series: Handbook of Experimental Pharmacology ((HEP,volume 116))

Abstract

Sleep disturbances, as well as other CNS side effects, can be caused by a large variety of therapeutic drugs used for the treatment of a wide range of neurological, psychiatric and medical conditions. Disordered sleep can present itself as the only or main side effect or it can be one of several side effects caused by a particular drug.
