Zusammenfassung

Zahlreiche Untersuchungen haben in den vergangenen Jahren gezeigt, dass Valproat in der Behandlung von einigen Subgruppen von Patienten mit bipolaren Störungen der Therapie mit Lithium überlegen ist. Hierzu gehören vor allem Patienten mit dysphorischer Manie oder mit „Rapid-cycling-Verlauf“. Das folgende Kapitel stellt die aktuelle Datenlage zu diesem Thema vor.
