Zusammenfassung
Die Diagnostik der Adipositas ist für klinische Zwecke im Wesentlichen eine Blickdiagnose. Zur Quantifizierung sollten Körpergewicht, Körperlänge und der Taillenumfang ermittelt werden. Zur Ermittlung der Körperzusammensetzung stehen folgende Methoden zur Verfügung: Hautfaltendickemessung, bioelektrische Impedanzanalyse, duale „X-ray“-Absorptionsmetrie, Dichtemessung sowie Computer- und Magnetresonanztomografie. Die Energieaufnahme kann klinisch durch eine Ernährungsanamnese, ein Ernährungsprotokoll oder über Fragebögen zur Verzehrshäufigkeit festgestellt werden. Objektiv kann die Energieaufnahme im Zustand der Gewichtskonstanz durch Messung des Energieverbrauchs mittels doppelt markierten Wassers gemessen werden. Wichtige Ursachen der Adipositas sind genetische Prädisposition, Fehlernährung und Bewegungsmangel. Auch Krankheiten (z. B. Hypothyreose) und Pharmaka (Psychopharmaka, Antidiabetika, Insulin u. a.) sind häufig mit der Adipositas vergesellschaftet.
