Zusammenfassung
Die Leberinsuffizienz läßt sich theoretisch als eine Störung des Stoffwechsels anderer Organe durch Versagen der normalen Funktion der Leber definieren. Die Frage ist nun, wie man diese Störungen mit konservativen Mitteln behandeln kann. Zuerst muß betont werden, daß wir keine rationelle kausale Therapie haben, weil wir die fundamentalen Störungen im einzelnen nicht kennen. Wir kennen nur einige ihrer Folgen, und zwar als klinisch eindrucksvollste die auf das Zentralnervensystem: das hepatische Koma.
