Zusammenfassung
Das Undekapeptid Substanz P ist ein Neuropeptid, das innerhalb des peripheren und zentralen Nervensystems weit verbreitet vorkommt. Es besitzt potente spasmogene Wirkung auf die glatte Muskulatur des Gastrointestinal- und Urogenitaltrakts, führt zu Blutdrucksenkung im Gefolge peripherer Vasodilatation und vermag die Durchlässigkeit von Kapillaren zu erhöhen (11). Unter einer Vielzahl beschriebener neu-rotroper Effekte ist seine wahrscheinliche Funktion als Neurotransmitter in primär sensorischen Neuronen hervorzuheben, die im Rahmen der Nozizeptionsvermittlung von Bedeutung sein soll (8). In den letzten Jahren konnte gezeigt werden, daß Substanz P auch Wirkungen auf Zellen entfaltet, die am Entzündungsgeschehen beteiligt sind (10).
