Abstract

Systolic time intervals (STI) are influenced by several anthropometric, hemodynamic, and pharmacologic factors which can limit the usefulness of STI for the evaluation of cardiac function in individual patients. The hemodynamic factors are largely unknown in individual patients. To appropriately use STI the following facts should be kept in mind.
