Part of the book series: Antibiotics ((ANTIBIOTICS,volume 3))

Abstract

Edeines A and B are produced by Bacillus brevis Vm4 (Kurylo-Borowska, 1959 a and b; Kurylo-Borowska and Tatum, 1966). In addition to these two antibiotics the strain 587 of the same organism produces small quantities of edeines C and D as well (Chamara and Borowski, 1966). Edeines are strongly basic and colorless compounds soluble in water and insoluble in most organic solvents.
