Abstract
Flavensomycin was first isolated from a culture of Streptomyces tanaschiensis by Craveri and Giolitti (1957) and later from a culture of S. griseus (Chacko and Gottlieb, 1965). A culture, S. cavourensis, has also been denoted by Dr. R. CRAVERI as a flavensomycin producer. A literature survey failed to reveal whether S. cavourensis was originally S. tanaschiensis or is a different organism. Recent studies indicate the possibility that S. cavourensis belongs to the species S. griseus.
