Zusammenfassung
Die Arbeits- und Organisationspsychologie beschäftigt sich mit der objektiven Beschreibung, Messung, Erklärung und Prognose des Erlebens und Verhaltens von Menschen in Organisationen und an der Schnittstelle zu Organisationen. Fragestellungen aus der Praxis und vorausgegangene wissenschaftliche Forschung führen auf der Basis von Theorien zur Formulierung von Hypothesen. Hypothesen werden mittels experimenteller oder korrelativer Designs geprüft. Die Grundfrage ist dabei, ob ein Ergebnis im Zufallsbereich liegt oder systematisch vom Zufall abweicht. Metaanalysen stellen die wichtigste Forschungsinnovationen für die Arbeits- und Organisationspsychologie der vergangenen 25 Jahre dar. In dem Maße, wie die Technik der Metaanalyse Verbreitung findet, steigt allerdings auch die Notwendigkeit, metaanalytische Publikationen kritisch zu analysieren und zu evaluieren.
Ich halte dafür, dass das einzige Ziel der Wissenschaft darin besteht, die Mühseligkeit der menschlichen Existenz zu erleichtern. (Bert Brecht, Leben des Galilei)
