Zusammenfassung

Jegliche Form der sexuellen Differenzierungsstörung ist nach wie vor eine Herausforderung an die damit betroffenen Fachdisziplinen und ein allgemeingültiger Konsensus aufgrund der Komplexität dieser Fehlbildungen erscheint nahezu unmöglich. Ein interdisziplinärer Teamansatz in der Diagnostik und Therapie ist unbedingt erforderlich, um mit den betroffenen Familien ein entsprechendes Management zu erstellen. Wenn es zu einer Geschlechtsfestlegung gekommen ist, sind die entsprechenden Korrekturoperationen an Zentren mit ausreichender Erfahrung in diesem Gebiet der Chirurgie sowie der notwendigen interdisziplinären Infrastruktur durchzuführen. Egal ob Maskulinisierungseingriffe oder Feminisierungsoperationen, beide sind mit zum Teil beträchtlichem Komplikationsrisiko behaftet. Allein schon die Vielzahl der vorhandenen Methoden bezeugt, dass selbst in der modernen Medizin noch immer keine ideale Form dieser Korrekturoperationen existiert. Überdies sind die betroffenen Patienten wegen der zahlreichen Spätkomplikationen oft ein Leben lang an entsprechende Einrichtungen gebunden.
