Abstract
One goal of creating a model is to organize thoughts, ideas, or assumptions into a coherent form so as to draw out the logical implications of the basic premises of the model. A second reason to create a model is to empirically test a hypothesis or empirically measure the magnitude of some effect. The goal of this chapter is to demonstrate the usefulness of precise modeling for empirical estimation.
