Real-time response extrapolation
Introduction
The dynamic forces acting on a structure and the corresponding system response are of great importance to many engineering applications. Often, however, the dynamic forces can hardly be obtained directly by measurements, e.g., for wind loads, and the number of response measurements during operation is in most cases limited due to practical and economical considerations. Therefore, the dynamic forces and corresponding system response have to be determined indirectly from measurements using system inversion techniques. These techniques allow estimating the dynamic forces acting on a structure from the response in a limited number of sensors, while at the same time the system response can be extrapolated to unmeasured locations from the identified forces and system states.
