Abstract
Trauma care requires highly skilled surgeons working in a highly technical environment in a time restrained manner. In many areas, trauma patients are, on the whole, less well insured than patients in other surgical domains. The macroeconomic impact of injury is reviewed and a microeconomic approach to trauma service structure is presented.
