Dieses Kapitel erläutert den Ursprung der grundlegendenFunktionen und den Einfluss von Descartes’ Géométrieauf ihre Berechnung. Das Interpolationspolynom führt zu Newtons binomischem Lehrsatz und zu den Reihenentwicklungen der Exponential- und Logarithmusfunktion und der trigonometrischen Funktionen.
