Zusammenfassung
Wir wollen hier zunächst einige bemerkenswert simple, aber hilfreiche Modellvorstellungen entwickeln, die uns eine Einschätzung der Energieabhängigkeit von inelastischen und reaktiven Prozessen erlauben.
Im vorangehenden Kapitel hatten wir uns mit der elastischen (Potenzial-) Streuung befasst. Obwohl die dort vorgestellten Konzepte die Schwerteilchenstreuung bei niedrigen Energien außerordentlich gut beschreiben und zum Teil auch auf die elastische Elektronenstreuung angewandt werden können, mussten wir bislang den wichtigen Bereich der Atom- oder Molekülanregung durch Stöße, ebenso wie reaktive Prozesse, ausklammern: Ganz allgemein sind Stoßprozesse Vielteilchenprobleme, und wo immer Änderungen des inneren Zustands eines der Stoßpartner möglich sind, muss man die entsprechenden Freiheitsgrade berücksichtigen.
