Diseases of the Inner Ear

Abstract

Imaging abnormalities are seen in 20% of patients with a congenital sensorineural hearing loss. Malformations can involve the cochlea, vestibule, semicircular canals or internal auditory canal alone or in combination. Incomplete partition II (IP-II) is synonymous with a Mondini’s deformity. The severity of the malformation generally depends on the timing of the gestational development arrest.
