Occupational contact dermatitis is often multifactorial.
Allergic occupational contact dermatitis prognosis can be poor.
Allergic occupational contact dermatitis can develop into persistent occupational dermatitis.
Chromium and Compositae allergic contact dermatitis often has a poor prognosis.
Repeat patch testing over time can identify additional aggravating allergens.
1 Introduction
Often occupational contact dermatitis is multifactorial; an interplay of irritant, allergic, and endogenous factors. So the prognosis will depend upon how important the various factors are in determining the severity of the dermatitis and if their exposure can be eliminated or reduced (Adisesh et al. 2002). In the case of endogenous factors then not much can be done; the prognosis may be poor if therapeutic interventions are ineffective.
