Biokeramik für Anwendungen in der Orthopädie

Zusammenfassung

Wie in den vorhergehenden Kapiteln beschrieben wird Biokeramik seit den 70er Jahren erfolgreich in der Orthopädie eingesetzt [1–3]. Die bioinerten Keramiken Aluminiumoxid und Zirkonoxid, die sich für lasttragende bzw. tribologische Anwendungen bewährt haben, bieten kaum ein Potential für gute Osseointegration wie die bioaktiven Calciumphosphat – Keramiken mit Hydroxylapatit (HA) und Tricalciumphosphat (TCP) als den wichtigsten Vertretern. HA und TCP sind wegen ihrer mässigen Festigkeit für lastaufnehmende Anwendungen ungeeignet.
