Mössbauer spectroscopy of lanthanum and holmium ferrites

Abstract

The present study was carried out to determine the oxidation states of iron in lanthanum and holmium ferrites synthesized by a solid state method. The X-ray diffraction results, of both compounds, correspond to the perovskite structure of LaFeO3 and HoFeO3. The Mössbauer spectroscopy applied to these phases show only the oxidation state of Fe (III).
