Abstract
The therapeutic treatment of a patient who has undergone a transverse carpal ligament release in the carpal tunnel varies broadly from patient to patient. The severityofthepreoperativenervecompression, thepatient’s predisposition to systemic illness, scar length, the surgical techniques followed (internal or external neurolysis, open field or endoscopy approach) [2], the severity of thenar eminence atrophy and the patient’s capacity to modify their activities of daily living are all fundamental factors which influence both the postsurgical rehabilitation time frame and the functional recovery prognosis of both the hand and wrist.
