Das akute Nierenversagen (ANV) ist ein klinisches Syndrom, das durch die abrupte, meist reversible Einschränkung der exkretorischen Nierenfunktion gekennzeichnet ist, die zur Akkumulation von Stoffwechselendprodukten und Störungen des Wasser-, Elektrolyt- und Säure-Basen-Haushaltes führt. Das ANV geht häufig mit einer Oligurie einher (oligurisches Nierenversagen), kann aber in vielen Fällen mit einer nicht beeinträchtigten Flüssigkeitsausscheidung verlaufen (nichtoligurisches ANV).
